Day to Day Program
Day 1: Kampala/Entebbe – Southwestern Uganda
Depart Kampala or Entebbe and begin the scenic journey toward southwestern Uganda.
Travel through beautiful countryside and enjoy changing landscapes as you approach the Virunga region.
Arrive at your accommodation and relax.
Overnight: Kisoro/Mgahinga area.
Day 2: Explore the Kisoro & Virunga Landscape
After breakfast, enjoy the beautiful surroundings of Kisoro and Mgahinga.
Take in views of the volcanic mountains and local communities while preparing for the following day’s gorilla trek.
Overnight: Kisoro/Mgahinga.
Day 3: Gorilla Trekking in Mgahinga
Today is the major highlight of your safari.
After an early breakfast, head to Mgahinga Gorilla National Park for briefing before entering the forest.
With experienced guides and trackers, trek through the mountain forest in search of the gorillas.
Once you locate the gorilla family, spend the permitted viewing time observing them in their natural habitat.
Return to your lodge after the trek and relax.
Overnight: Kisoro/Mgahinga.
Day 4: Golden Monkey Trekking
Today you encounter another fascinating resident of the Virunga forests—the golden monkey.
After breakfast, head into Mgahinga’s bamboo forests for a guided golden monkey trek.
Watch these active primates move through the forest while learning about their habitat and conservation.
Return to your lodge after the trek.
Overnight: Kisoro/Mgahinga.
Day 5: Volcano Hiking Adventure
Mgahinga is home to three spectacular volcanoes: Mount Muhabura, Mount Gahinga and Mount Sabyinyo.
Today, take part in a guided volcano hiking experience according to your selected route, fitness level and park conditions.
Enjoy spectacular views across Uganda, Rwanda and the Democratic Republic of Congo from the Virunga landscape.
Return to your accommodation after the hike.
Overnight: Kisoro/Mgahinga.
Day 6: Kisoro – Kampala/Entebbe
After breakfast, begin your return journey toward Kampala or Entebbe.
Enjoy the final views of southwestern Uganda before concluding your adventure.
